Frequently asked questions
My computer does not appear on my phone.
Sign in to Pocket on your phone first. Then install the Pocket desktop app on your computer (download it from the website) and sign in with the same account. The computer shows a 6-digit pairing code; enter it in Pocket on your phone when prompted. Until pairing is complete, the computer syncs nothing. After that, the computer needs to stay on and online; Pocket syncs sessions from the last few days (set the number of days in Settings in the app).
I tapped Allow or Stop on my phone, but nothing happened on my computer.
On a Mac, Pocket needs system permissions: click Pocket in the menu bar, choose Request Permissions…, and turn on Accessibility and any other permissions it asks for. The Devices tab on your phone also lists any missing permissions. On Linux, sessions you start from your phone can always be controlled; for an AI you opened yourself in a plain terminal, the phone can't press keys, so handle it on the computer (Claude Code approvals still work).
How is the international edition different from the China mainland edition?
The international edition is for users outside mainland China, and its servers are in Hong Kong. The China mainland edition is for users in mainland China, and its servers and data are in mainland China. The two editions have separate accounts and data: an account created in one cannot sign in to the other, so switching means signing up again and pairing your phone and computers again.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings → Delete account and confirm with your password. This deletes your account, all session history and files, and your linked computers, and cannot be undone. If you cannot sign in, email us from your account's email address.
How do I stop a computer from syncing?
Choose Pause Sync in the desktop app's menu to hide that computer from your phone temporarily. To unlink it permanently, choose Sign Out… in the desktop app, or remove it on the Devices tab on your phone.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password, receive a verification code at your account's email address, and set a new password.
How is voice input handled?
While you hold the microphone button, the recording is transcribed using the method you chose: Pocket cloud (transcribed through our servers; recordings are not stored), My computer (encrypted and transcribed on your own computer), Self-hosted speech service, or On this phone (offline; the recording never leaves the phone). You can change the method or withdraw consent in Settings.
Can Pocket see my sessions?
No. Sessions, files and what you send are encrypted on your devices, the keys exist only on your phones and computers, and our servers only relay ciphertext. What we can and cannot see is listed in section 1.6 of the Privacy Policy.
Pocket asks me to update.
Old versions of the app and desktop app can no longer be used. Update Pocket on your phone and computers to the latest version (the desktop app is available on the website), then pair them when prompted.
A new phone or computer does not show my sessions.
After signing in, a new device shows a 6-digit pairing code. Enter it on a device that is already signed in (Pocket on your phone or computer will prompt you). Until pairing is complete, the new device cannot see or sync anything. If you enter a wrong code, enter the new code shown on the new device; after 5 wrong codes, sign in again on the new device. The pairing code is never sent to us, so even someone who has your password, or who controls our servers, cannot add a device unless you enter its code on one of your devices. If you are asked for a pairing code but have not just signed in on a new device, do not enter it, and change your password immediately.
I lost my phone, or replaced all my phones.
If you still have another signed-in device: sign in on the new phone and enter the pairing code it shows on that device, then remove the lost phone on the Devices tab. If you have no signed-in devices left: on the new phone's pairing screen, choose to reset encryption and confirm with your password and an email verification code. After the reset, each computer warns that encryption was reset; confirm on the computer that it was you, then enter the pairing code it shows on your phone. The old ciphertext stored on our servers becomes unreadable and your computers sync your sessions again (the sessions themselves remain in the AI tools on your computer). We do not have your keys and cannot decrypt anything for you.
What information does Pocket collect?
