These terms apply to the international edition of Pocket, which serves users outside mainland China and uses servers in Hong Kong. Users in mainland China should use the China mainland edition, which has its own Terms of Service (in Chinese).
Welcome to Pocket. These terms are an agreement between you and Alex Lay ("we", "us") about using the international edition of Pocket, which includes the Pocket CLI phone app, the desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux when signed in to an international account, the website and the servers behind them (together, the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. Please pay particular attention to the terms in bold, which exclude or limit our liability or limit your rights. These terms are available in English and Chinese; if the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
1. What the service is
Pocket is a phone remote for the AI coding tools on your computer: on your phone you follow the Claude Code, Codex, Kimi Code, pi and DeepSeek Harness sessions on your computer, approve commands, answer questions, look at the files they produce, and send new messages to the AI on your computer.
To use it, install the Pocket desktop app on your own computer, sign in with the same account and pair it with your phone.
The international edition is meant for users outside mainland China. Pocket also has a China mainland edition; the two are separate services, and accounts and data are not shared between them.
Pocket does not provide or call any AI model. You install, sign in to and pay for the AI tools on your computer yourself, and their providers' terms govern their services and output.
The service is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance and will never charge you without your knowledge.
2. Your account
Sign up with an email address you can receive mail at. Keep your password safe and do not lend or share your account.
Activity under your account is treated as yours. If your account is misused, change your password right away, use Settings → Sign out everywhere to sign out all your devices, and contact us.
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. Your account and its data on our servers are then deleted and cannot be recovered (see section 7 of the Privacy Policy).
3. Acting on your computer remotely
Approvals, answers, stop requests and messages you send from your phone really run on your computer, for example running commands or changing or deleting files. Read what you are approving before you approve it. You are responsible for judging what you approve or ask the AI to do, and for the behavior and output of the AI tools themselves. We recommend version control and backups for important projects.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Pocket to:
break the law or infringe the rights of others;
control or access anyone else's computer or account without authorization;
attack or disrupt the service or try to get around its security, register accounts in bulk, or use its resources beyond normal use;
create or spread unlawful content, or for any other improper purpose.
If you do, we may restrict features, suspend or close your account, and cooperate with the authorities as required by law.
5. Your content
Your sessions, files and messages belong to you (or their original owners). You allow us to store and transmit them as needed to provide the service.
Pocket encrypts this content end to end: the keys exist only on the phones and computers you paired, and what we store and relay is ciphertext we cannot decrypt. Pocket cannot be used without encryption: the old unencrypted way of syncing was switched off on October 9, 2026, and old versions must be updated before they can be used; see section 1.7 of the Privacy Policy.
We do not have your keys and offer no recovery code: if all your devices are lost or reset, encrypted content stored on our servers cannot be recovered, and we cannot decrypt it for you. The sessions themselves remain in the AI tools on your computer, which syncs them again. Keep your devices safe. A new device joins only after you enter the pairing code it shows on a device that is already signed in; if you are asked for a pairing code but have not just signed in on a new device, do not enter it, and change your password right away.
We do not use your content to train models or show ads, and we do not sell it. How we handle your personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Make sure you have the right to handle the content you sync and send through Pocket.
6. Software and intellectual property
We own the intellectual property in Pocket's software, interface, logo and documentation; the open-source components and fonts it uses are licensed under their own licenses. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the service under these terms.
The source code of Pocket's relay server and speech service is published under an open-source license (AGPL-3.0), and the protocol documents under CC BY 4.0; you may use, modify and run them yourself under those licenses. A server you run yourself is yours to operate and look after, and we are not responsible for it.
Apart from the open-source parts above and where the law allows it, do not reverse engineer or crack Pocket, or use it to build a competing product.
If you downloaded Pocket from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Pocket or its service.
7. Changes, interruptions and ending the service
We work to keep the service running, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, upgrades, network problems, or problems with third-party services such as cloud hosting or speech recognition. We try to announce planned downtime in advance.
We may change or remove features. If we decide to stop operating Pocket, we will announce it on the website and in the app at least 30 days in advance, giving you time to deal with your data.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Pocket is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output is correct, and we are not liable for losses caused by actions you approved, by the behavior of AI tools, by loss of data on your computer, or by problems with third-party services. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will update this page, and tell you in the app about important changes. If you do not agree, you can stop using the service and delete your account; continuing to use it means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (for this purpose, excluding the laws of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan). Disputes should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; failing that, either party may bring the dispute before a people's court with jurisdiction.
